The filming of “Assault at West Point: The Court- Martial of Johnson Whittaker (1994)” movie at the Staunton’s Augusta County Court House tells the true story of one of the first black cadets, Johnson Whittaker, admitted to West Point who was found beaten, mutilated and tied to his bed at West Point in 1880. The film is based on a book of the same name by John F. Marszalek.
