Originally located at Pine and Chestnut in Hamburg, Virginia, the Hamburg African American Regular School dated back to 1885 and provided education to African American children and adults in the Hamburg community. Although its construction is one of the oldest one-room schoolhouses in Virginia, its physical body stands at the Luray Valley Museum, and the original interior, including the walls and furniture, remains. The museum requires a fee to access the Hamburg African American Regular School; however, the building can be seen from the road without payment.
