Franklin T. Jones Tourist Home was listed in The Negro Travelers’ Green Book between the 1940s and 1950s. The property was in the historic African-American community of Sunnyside. The tourist home stood among several black-owned shops in the area, including the Palace Auditorium, which was a social lounge. Baptist Street, where the house was located, was referred to locally as “Baptist Alley” and was a very tight-knit neighborhood. The tourist home no longer exists and is now a vacant lot.
