The Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church was organized in 1910. Church trustees purchased land for the original Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church three miles northeast of Waynesboro a year prior. A council of Baptist churches established a new church serval miles from the present-day site. Members present at the initial meeting became charter members of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. The original church structure was sold and dismantled. In 1919, the land for the current church was purchased. The first service at the new location was held in 1921. The cemetery, located a mile east, was given to the church by the Ellis family, who owned the land.
