Edward Paige Kier Sr. was the son of a skilled seamstress, Irene Rose Kier of Staunton. After Kier was discharged from the military, he attended tailoring courses at the St. Pail Polytechnic University and the Loving School of Tailoring. Kier returned to Staunton as a master tailor and opened his own business. Kier also worked for the U.S. Postal Service while running the shop. Kier’s Tailoring and Alteration Service started at the Kier home on B Street, then moved to Beverley Street. Kier hired and mentored employees at the Beverley Street location. After a few years, the business returned to their home on B Street. Kier was a talented tailor who took pride in his work and was passionate about his projects.
