This structure is the site of a home built on Daniel Harrison's 120-acre property, which he acquired in 1749. Originally called a fort due to the stockade fence built around it, the property has since transitioned. It remained in the Harrison family until 1821. Fort Harrison, Inc. now owns the house and operates it as a museum. The Harrisons enslaved African Americans on their plantation. A replica of the original slave quarters has been built on the property behind the house.
