The Ebenezer Baptist Church was established by members who separated from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The congregation held their first meeting in September of 1878 in the home of Henry and Margaret Burke. The meetings moved to a larger place of worshiped as the members of members increased. In December 1878, the congregation received and charge and qualification as an organized church to be known as the Ebenezer Baptist Church. The old existing church building that been used for over twenty years was torn down and replaced with the new present church building in 1910. On June 7 1902, R. C. Pannell of Lynchburg, Virginia and Hampton Normal and Industrial Institute graduate was called upon to be Ebenezer Baptist Church's pastor and served for 49 years. Ebenezer Baptist Church is active today.
