The Mount Crawford Community Cemetery sits behind apartments on the north end of Mount Crawford. Through conversations with descendants of those buried here, this is a historic black cemetery. There are 17 marked burials including the names Becks, Brown, Thomas, Williams, Anderson, Frye, Tuckerson, Jackson, Ware, Booten, and Gaines. The earliest marked birthdate is 1798. The most recent burial was in 1989. Further research needs to be conducted to identify the cemetery's origin and if it was affiliated with a local church or a family cemetery. It is unknown if there is a caretaker of the cemetery. This cemetery and its history should be remembered by all, and efforts must be made to preserve its existence.
