The Village of White Post was placed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The village contained two African American Churches: Ebenezer Baptist Church and Mount Olive Baptist Church, behind which is the Charles “Buster” Jackson cemetery. There were also two African American schools: one school was located just south of Mount Olive Baptist Church. Originally constructed c.1903 as a school for White children, it became an African American elementary school by the early 1940s. The second school, located on the south end of the village, was built c. 1909 by Mr. Graham Blandy of the Tyleyries. He offered $1,500 for the construction of a “New Negro School Building at White Post” provided that the school board would pay the salary of a teacher who would “teach manual training such as bricklaying, carpentry etc.” The school accepted Blandy’s offer and authorized the construction. The building was abandoned as a school in 1941 and later sold as surplus in 1952, and is now a private residence.
