The J.H. Gibson Grocery Store was owned and operated by Joseph H. Gibson. According to the Staunton, Virginia, City Directory of 1888, 1890, and 1892, the store was located at 10 East Frederick Street, which is now 41 North Augusta Street. The original store building is gone, and the present building is the former YMCA property. Advertisements in the City Directory state that J.H. Gibson was a dealer in groceries, provisions, confectionary, fin cigars, tobacco, and general merchandise.
