The North River Baptist Church is a historical African American church and is still active today. The present church was built in 1889. The Lord has led several great preachers through North River Baptist church doors the last 124 years. These included the Rev. Ware, Rev. Wright, Rev. Massie, Rev. Beverly Walker and Gerald Blair.​
