Rosalee Maire Cook Vickers was born in 1920 and was a lifelong native of Staunton. Vickers graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and Apex Beauty School in Washington, D.C. Vickers was a Booker T. Washington Alumni Association member and the Ebenezer Baptist Church member. She was a caterer and beautician for 51 years. She lived close to Cochran Street on Johnson Street, which now bears her name. In honor of Rosalee Vickers's commitment and community service to her locality, city councilwoman Rita Wilson recommended renaming Johnson Street to Vickers Way.
