Mrs. Theodora Morgan was native of Lexington, Virginia and the youngest of five children. Mrs. Theodora Morgan began shining shoes in her father’s barber shop. When her father could not find any male barbers, he taught his four daughters the art of barbering.
Mrs.Theodora Morgan, mother of five, had become bored with being a housewife when she learned of Mr. James ‘Scabby’ Crawford needing help in his barber shop. So, she came to Staunton and applied for the job and was immediately hired. At first, men were a little hesitant about having a woman handle a straight razor or cut their hair. For more than 25 years, Mrs. Theodora Morgan had battled it out with the best of them in a male influential profession. Doing anything else for her would have been boring. |
